In a result that will shock nobody who has been in existence for the past three months, Bruce's Band has been voted the world's most popular band of all time by a recent MTV poll.
Bruce's Band has been on a roll lately, going from relative anonymity to world-wide popularity and universal critical praise in the short span of three months. Their hit single, "I am a Space Ship," made available on YouTube has been watched a record seven billion times and most experts agree that it was the primary cause of the resurgence of the economy.
Bruce Green, taking time out of his busy schedule of being rich and happy, said, "My band really started to take off when I ditched my then girlfriend, Rose. Getting away from her really gave us the freedom we needed to take off musically, you know?"
Green added, "She was just really holding us back."
But, not everyone agrees with Green's assessment. Joelle van Dyne, drummer for Bruce's Band and recent honorary Doctor of Music (with an emphasis in Awesome) from Harvard said, "Bruce likes to say that we Rose was holding us back, and she was a total tool, but with folks like Bruce and Randy, there was no way we wouldn't have eventually gotten here. I just feel really lucky, you know?"
The ex-girlfriend Rose, whose last name has been withheld for privacy, declined to comment.
The poll, entitled "Is Bruce's Band the Most Popular Band of All Time (Even More Popular than the Beatles)?" was conducted by MTV on July 1st through July 3rd and included seventeen million responses. Results are broken down by age, gender, income level, and race, but the poll found no significant difference by any of these variables. In fact, the poll reveals that not a single "no" response was given.
President Barack Obama, who in June agreed to step down temporarily from his presidency in order to be the opening act for Bruce's Band said, "The results aren't a surprise to anybody. These used to be tough times, and I've talked to a lot of Americans who say that they were surviving paycheck to paycheck, barely able to afford their mortgage payments, but when they heard 'I am a Spaceship' for the first time, the world finally made sense again."
Obama has openly claimed to have learned a new style of governance from Bruce's Band that he expects to bring back to Washington when the tour is complete. For now, though, as everyone is keenly aware, he is the luckiest man alive.

This is not the New York Times. Neither are we. Neither are you. Is anybody?
